The Kabbalah Centre Expands Its Reach Around the World

Posted by fitav on

The Kabbalah Centre in Los Angeles opened its doors in 1984. Prior to its establishment in Los Angeles, the predecessor to the Kabbalah Centre was operating in New York City.

The organization initially established in New York City was called The National Research Institute of Kabbalah and opened its doors in 1965. It was founded by Rav Philip Berg and Rav Yehuda Tzvi Brandwein.

The New York incarnation was an outgrowth of Yeshivah Kol Yehuda in Israel. Yeshivah Kol Yehuda was founded in 1925, long before the establishment of the Jewish state itself.

The Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre takes a more open approach to accepting people to the study of Kabbalah. Unlike more traditional organizations, the Kabbalah Centre welcomes men and women who do not have a background in Jewish and Hebrew writings.

In addition to its main venue in Los Angeles, the Kabbalah Centre has over 50 branches located around the world. This includes branches in major cities like London, Toronto, and New York City.

In addition to branches, the Kabbalah Centre also has affiliated study groups, also located around the world. People interested in Kabbalah can also access Kabbalah Centre courses over the Internet.

A number of celebrities have become connected with the LA Kabbalah Centre. Perhaps the best known of these celebrities is iconic pop singer Madonna. She has been publicly connected with the LA Kabbalah Centre for about two decades, an association that continues strongly to this day.

In addition to studying Kabbalah, Madonna has been a major financial supporter of the LA Kabbalah Centre. She is responsible for establishing a number of Kabbalah Centre branches.

Madonna is not the first famous person to become associated with the study of Kabbalah. Other iconic people who have practiced and studied Kabbalah include Sammy Davis, Jr., Elizabeth Taylor, and Marilyn Monroe.
