A Look At Dr. Saad Saad’s Career As A Pediatric Surgeon
Dr. Saad Saad, MD, FAAP, is a medical doctor who specializes in general surgery and pediatric surgery. He was born in Palestine but his family moved to Kuwait when he was very young. His parents had eight children and he says that education was always the focus of his household. Due to this both of his older brothers became engineers, three of his siblings are surgeons, and one is a teacher. He attended Cairo University, located in Egypt, in order to earn his MD. He moved to the United Kingdom to complete his internship and then moved to America where he completed his residency.
As a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Saad Saad has completed many complicated pediatric surgeries on sick or injured children. He has performed surgeries on babies to those in their teenage years. He has also traveled to Jerusalem eight times in his career in order to provide free surgeries for children from low-income households. He has worked at a number of hospitals such as Monmouth Medical Center, Meridian Pediatric Surgical Associates, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center, all in the state of New Jersey. He is now retired and the last place he performed surgeries was a K Hovnanian Children Hospital, also in Jersey. Dr. Saad Saad has said that his family was pretty poor when he was growing up. At first he wanted to also be an engineer like his brothers until he heard about how they work outside for most of the day. As for the greatest professional influence in his life, Dr. Saad Saad points to Dr. H Biemann Othersen who was also a pediatric surgeon. He says that Dr. Othersen was the best one in the United States and was the person who had trained him. While he learned the technical skills of being a surgeon what he also learned was to treat all children the same regardless of their sex, color, creed, or religion.
Dr. Saad Saad now lives in Eatontown, New Jersey. He has been married to his wife for over 40 years. They have four adult children who have also found successful careers. Two of these children also became surgeons, one became an ICU nurse, and their other child is now a lawyer.
